Mobile Museum Events Are Back!

Second-year funding from the City of Berkeley’s Civic Arts Commission has arrived and we are scheduling two Mobile Museum events this fall with more to come next spring.

Since mid-2021, Habitot has been able to present 42 outdoor hands-on exhibits and art-making events for young children and families in cities throughout the East Bay, and we’re grateful to the government funders who’ve made this possible (see below).

Thanks to theirs and individual support, we are able to present events on a sliding scale from $1-40 per family so that everyone has access (and no one is turned away).

If you or someone you know would like to underwrite the $7,500 cost of one of these events in your area, or if you have recommendations for corporate sponsors, please email grants@habitot.org Thank you!

Saturday, September 21, 2024 — Berkeley

What to Expect!

Fun, interactive activity stations for small hands and bodies!

Rocket & Vehicle Launcher
Launch your very own handmade rocket 15 feet into the sky with our hand-cranked air pressure contraption. New in 2023, use the same hand-cranked air pressure contraption to launch a vehicle down a 10 ft track!

Rocket Building & Tinkering
Design, build, and decorate your rocket from recycled materials. Test how high it launches in our new rocket launcher. Decide if your make-and-keep rocket needs anything added to it or taken away. An astronomically fun design activity!

WaterWorks
Playing with water is a learning opportunity! Explore boats, funnels, buckets, and streams to learn about the properties of water, and just have fun!

Boat Making & Tinkering
Build a boat using the recycled materials provided, and see if it sails at our nearby water table. If the boat won’t float, tinker with it and try again. The boat’s yours to keep!

Art, STEM, and Making Stations
Create art and engage in maker activities with a wide range of materials that encourage “process” not “product” learning. STEM experiments also help children learn basic science and math concepts. New in 2023, we have an art-making table for 2-yr-olds and younger!

Paintable Wall
Imagine an entire mural created by children on our giant paintable wall! We provide nontoxic washable paint.

Ball Run
Design your very own ball run with endless combinations of tubes and gutters on our giant magnetic wall!

Imagination Playground Blocks
Build a fort, a ball ramp, or anything you can imagine with Imagination Playground’s big foam blocks. This is a great activity for making new friends as you build together!

Baby Ball Pit
Just for the littlest ones — a waterless pool filled with multi-colored plastic balls. Lots of giggles!

Mellow Hour

A designated hour at each event for any family needing a less crowded, less stimulating experience or special accommodations. Please email reservations@habitot.org with any accommodations your family would appreciate and we’ll do our best.
