Sunnie Kaufmann-Paulman

Teach for America

Chantal Laurie Below, currently works as Managing Director of Leadership Development at Teach for America, Bay Area. She has led teams and advisory boards at BUILD, worked in education at the KIPP Foundation and Full Circle Fund and in an advisory capacity at Big Brothers, Big Sisters. She is committed to education reform and joined Habitot's Board in 2012. She and her husband and daughter live in Oakland.

"Creativity and early childhood development are my passions," says Nairobi Kim which is why Habitot appealed to her. A mom of two girls, she believes in giving back to the community so that all children have access to programs and care that help them learn and develop new skills. She has served on other nonprofit boards such as the Imagine Bus Project which provides art education to underserved youth. As a management consultant and systems architect, she contributes experise in assessing problems, providing high level strategy and implementation protocols.

Astronomical Society of the Pacific

Greg Schultz, PhD., directs eucation for the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP), where he oversees development and implementation of several education & public outreach programs in astronomy and space science. He received his PhD in Astronomy from UCLA (1999), an M.S. in Physics from Purdue U. (1990), and a B.S. in Physics from Wayne State U. (1988). He started his professional career at UC Berkeley for 10 years, first as a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow, and then as an Education/Outreach Scientist and Teacher Educator. Greg has a passion for teaching, learning, and child development, and joined Habitot's Board in 2011 after several visits with his wife and son, who started exploring the museum as an infant. Their family lives in Richmond.

Ashley Dunning is a partner in the national law firm of Nossaman, where she is an expert in fiduciary and other legal issues facing public entities and nonprofits. She is committed to education and passionate about early childhood education. She joined Board of Directors in 2011. She and her husband live in Oakland with her two Habitot tots.

Jeffrey Evans -- On Leave of Absence
HKIT Architects

Jeff Evans is an architect and LEED AP with HKIT Architects. He received a Masters in Architecture from UC Berkeley in 2004 and a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia in 2000. Jeff joined the Board of Directors in 2010 and currently heads up Habitot’s Future Facilities Task Force. He and his wife live in Berkeley with their two toddlers.

Ava Kelly
Chief Strategy Officer
Stealth Social-Gaming Start-Up

Ava Kelly is currently the Chief Strategy Officer for a stealth start-up in the social-gaming industry. Ava is a business professional with over 20 years of global experience in product and line of business management, strategic planning, marketing, advertising and team leadership at leading brands such as Visa and American Express. Ava has held senior executive positions in the payments industry for the last 16 years including the Head of Global Affluent Strategy and the Head of Consumer Credit for North America at Visa and the Director of Strategic Planning and Advertising and Director of Marketing, Global Establishment Services at American Express. Ava received her BA in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto, Canada. Ava and her family have been members of Habitot since 2008 and joined the Board of Directors in 2012. She and her husband live in Oakland with their daughter.

Owner, Ask a Nanny and Great Baby Romp

Stef Tousignant, a designer and entrepreneur with both architectural and fine arts degrees and wide experience in childcare design, shares Habitot's philosophy saying, "children should always be free to be children – to play, laugh, experiment, and get messy." She is the marketing director at MommyNearest, the fastest growing mobile community for parents and caregivers in the U.S. She is also the nanny blogger at and the founder of the community building event The Great Baby Romp -San Francisco. Ms. Tousignant joined Habitot's Board in 2014. She is the mother of two boys and lives in San Francisco.

Gina Moreland, ex officio
Founder & Executive Director,
Habitot Children’s Museum

Gina Moreland founded Habitot in 1992, and has served as its executive director since opening in 1998. In 2006, she was honored for her years of public service in creating Habitot with a Bay Area “Jefferson Award,” as well as with a 2006 proclamation from the City of Berkeley as “Early Childhood Champion of the Year.” She holds a Master’s degree in Education, a California teaching credential and a B.A. in Economics from Mt. Holyoke College. She and her husband live in Kensington and have two adult children, both of whom are life-long hands-on learners.
